If the value of my portfolio is going up, why do we need to talk?
That’s one answer we hear when contacting clients to schedule reviews of their investments. Here’s another: Is something wrong? Is there bad news? There can even be an unspoken concern: Are you going to try to sell me something?
Let’s answer that last question right away: No, we aren’t going to sell you anything. Remember, we aren’t brokers. We’re not going to sell you annuities, mutual funds or any other sort of financial product. Investment management is all we do.
Why are investment reviews valuable?
- Knowing your financial situation helps us to invest with your best interests in mind. Are you planning to retire soon? Have you sold a property or business? Are you considering a large cash outlay? These all can affect the way we invest for you.
- You deserve to know what we’ve done and why. We’re accountable to you. That means we’ll meet in good years and not-so-good years.
- Regular meetings, whether in person or by phone, help to build trust and rapport. You’ll know that you are not taken for granted. We work hard each year to earn your business.
Aside from these practical reasons, we like our clients. We enjoy working with you and hope you feel the same way.
